We are seeking a Plant Materials Manager to join our team at our Streator, IL plant.
This position is responsible for the overall plant materials management. Key elements include planning integration and execution of the production schedule, inventory control, purchasing, warehousing, distribution, and customer service.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
(All other duties as assigned)
Responsible for all functions related to materials management, production scheduling, warehouse management and customer service
Executes MRP and generates materials releases to suppliers
Directs & monitors all plant inventories and purchasing related functions while utilizing a structured cycle count process
Executes/directs plant production schedule through communication with divisional production planning
Directs and supervises plant warehousing operations including transportation & distribution
Understands and implements leading warehouse practices including ABC inventory storage methodology and other lean concepts while ensuring segregation of the different material types
Responsible for the use of any external warehousing and must understand the strategic approach for what products are to be stored in these facilities
Must ensure that post goods issues and stock transfer orders are completed within the same business day
Performs AQS responsibilities in accordance with AQS manual
Serves as primary plant contact for customer inquiries regarding production schedule, inventory, transportation, and orders / releases
Identifies and implements opportunities to increase efficiencies and reduce cost that directly impact the P&L of the business (i.e. effective loading & unloading process, warehouse storage strategies, space utilization, etc.)
Works with Plant management to achieve the goals of the customer including satisfaction, quality, & cost reductions
Manages the preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, & annual reporting requirements as instructed by corporate.
Prepares annual plans and forecasts of plant operations
Develops annual COTs for all of the plant materials team and ensure accountability
Manages, coaches and mentors all direct reports
Oversees the management of personnel, budget, and other resources to ensure goals and objectives are being met
Identifies and takes action to meet training needs within the department.
SCOPE AND IMPACT
Responsible for working closely with Production Planning to ensure all customers needs are met. Also responsible for managing all purchased materials & finished goods to effectively optimize the use of O-Is cash / working capital and for providing oversight to the Plant Materials team and Warehouse to ensure efficient use of resources while minimizing costs.
Position Requirements
EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Bachelors Degree in purchasing, supply chain or other related areas
5-7 years as a Materials professional with supervisory experience
SAP experience a plus
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Plant Manager (dotted line to Corporate Supply Chain).
Direct reports to this position include Storing/Shipping Supervisor and Customer Service Representatives.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
There may be some travel associated with this position for training and/or project work.
